SEAN FAIRCHILD
Head Coach
Boys & Girls Cross Country And Track
Coach Sean Fairchild ran track in high school. He competed in 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump, triple jump and high jump.
Coach Fairchild received his BBA in Finance from Howard Payne University. He was also a four year starter on the football team and received All-Conference honors as Defensive End. While at Howard Payne, Coach Fairchild played football with our very own Plano West Head Tennis coach, Morgen Walker.
After college, Coach Fairchild lived in Abilene for 14 years. During that time, he coached every sport his kids played (soccer, basketball, football, baseball, softball, track, etc.) and volunteered in their classrooms as much as possible. That time volunteering with the kids completely changed his life and eventually changed his career.
Coach Fairchild started coaching summer track in 2006, covering every event except pole vault and eventually evolved into a private coach. He has been with the district since 2013 and at Plano West since 2016. He has a Level II Certification from USATF. Coach Fairchild says "I believe in constant growth and self improvement therefore I regularly attend seminars, workshops, and visit with experienced athletes and coaches."
Coach Fairchild has 2 kids, Lauren and Grant. Lauren, is a graduate and 4x All-American (Track) of Colorado State University-Pueblo. Grant ran track for two years at A&M-Corpus and now attends Texas A&M University and works for 12th Man Productions.
JESSIE RODRIGUEZ
Assistant Coach
Boys & Girls Cross Country And Track
Coach Rodriguez ran cross country at Allen High School. After graduating, he took a break from running but returned to it as his boys grew older. His family started participating in Spartan races and other local events until COVID-19 put everything on hold.
Coach Rodriguez spent most of his life in the Allen and Plano areas. When his kids were younger, he coached little league soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. Once they began playing for their middle schools, he decided to pursue a career in education so he could continue coaching.
Coach Rodriguez loves sports, especially University of Notre Dame, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. He even carries a pickle ball paddle in his truck just in case the opportunity ever presents itself to play.
Coach Rodriguez is married to Davina, and they have three kids: JT, Jordan, and Eli. JT ran track and cross country at Plano Senior High and joined the Air Force after graduating. Jordan enjoys working out at the gym and is in her senior year. Eli, currently a junior, runs cross country and track for Plano Senior High.
